Prior to founding Detroit Philanthropy, Rachel Decker, spent nearly two decades in the nonprofit sector serving in various leadership capacities responsible for fundraising and marketing. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of the HAVEN Foundation where she oversaw all fundraising initiatives in support of ongoing operations, and successfully completed the agency’s largest capital campaign, which funded HAVEN’s new headquarters.
Prior to that position, Rachel served as the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Ave Maria University. She also worked throughout the metro Detroit area with several nonprofit organizations including: Vista Maria, the Detroit Police Athletic League, Common Ground and the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence.
Rachel’s education includes a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in the nonprofit sector from Michigan State University, and Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College where she majored in political science. Additionally, she serves as a board member and the development committee chair for Playworks Michigan, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
