2023 IS YOUR YEAR FOR ACCELERATING YOUR IMPACT

Guest blog by: Vinay Mullick, Managing Director, UpMetrics

As the world continues to twist and turn through wars, the great recession, and prolonged COVID repercussions, your organization has to continue to thrive, delivering goods and services to your communities, collaborating locally and nationally and accelerating your impact in ways that continue to activate and inspire.

As we head into 2023, how we define and communicate impact will facilitate ongoing data-driven learning and decision making as we collectively look to build a better world. Here are a few recommendations and questions for you to answer as you think about accelerating your impact in 2023.

  • What is Impact and why does it matter? Impact matters, even if we still are not sure how to get there. Impact matters to your community, to your stakeholders, and donors, and should be embedded in all of your communications.

    • What is our intended impact?

    • What impact are we having?

  • Are we collecting the right data? Data collection is only meaningful if we put it to use for learning, iterating, and sharing.

    • What data are you collecting; what data are you using?

    • What do you want to learn from your data?

    • What types of data are you collecting? Qualitative and quantitative?

  • Do we have the resources we need to make an impact? More and more funders are interested in funding the holistic organization, not just your programs. Recognize and communicate the resources you need and help funders understand what your org needs to achieve its goals.

    •   What resources do we need to create an impact?

    • What resources do we have?

    • How can we creatively think about resourcing?

  • Are we collaborating with the right partners in the most efficient way? Collaboration is key to your impact. Who are you collaborating with from a partner perspective, and who are you collaborating with from a funding perspective?

    • What can you learn from your current collaborations?

    • What partnerships do you need to increase your impact in 2023?
