November 2023 - Panel Discussion Recap

Here are some valuable takeways from our panel of experts:

  • Face to face, in-person, interaction is crucial to today's new generation of donors. They don't want to just write a check and move on, they want to participate. They want to see and experience how their donations are making an impact. Some great interactive experiences they enjoy include touring the nonprofit's space and attending community programming, as well as connecting directly with those impacted by their donation.

  • The next generation of donors are inspired to give as a result of great storytelling. They want to connect with and feel the impact their donation is making. Nonprofits must convey not just the tangible need and the why behind the ask, but the intangible impact that will result from the nonprofit's programs and services.

  • The next generation of donors are also the next board members that will lead the charge. To see success with younger donors and board members, nonprofits need to solicit support outside of just money, but also time and talents. It's important to show them how they are a crucial part of continuing your mission. Consider creating a young leaders or volunteer council to connect this generation to your mission through community service opportunities.

  • This next generation doesn't have the desire or interest to read snail mail or email solicitations. They prefer donating through easy-access online platforms like text to give, virtual wallet, Venmo, PalPay, social media channels, etc. Donating has to be as quick and easy as clicking a link. No mailing a check to the nonprofit for this generation!

  • It's more about relationship building than fundraising with this next generation of donors. They will often give because someone they know and trust asks them to give. They like to get involved because their friends are involved. To engage them in your organization's mission, plan a cultivation event (where your services are offered, if possible) and ask them to bring a few friends to come learn about your work.

Be sure to purchase tickets early for our next event! We often sell out.
